About the School

A Sainik School raised by the people of Nagaland.

Sainik School Punglwa was inaugurated on 12 May 2007 by then Defence Minister Shri A.K. Antony, the result of an initiative by the Nagaland Chapter of the Old Boys Association of Sainik Schools under the leadership of Nagaland's Chief Minister, Shri Neiphiu Rio — himself an alumnus of Sainik School Purulia. Set in Punglwa, Peren district, it is a fully residential, CBSE-affiliated school for boys from Class VI, managed by the Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence, and stands as the best Sainik School in Nagaland for cadets preparing for a career in the Armed Forces.

"Every cadet who walks out of our gate should be ready for three things: a classroom, a command, and a crisis." — Office of the Principal

Our cadets rise before the sun for physical training, spend their mornings in a CBSE classroom built for scholarship, and their afternoons on the parade ground, the playing field, or in NCC drill — because a Sainik School education asks something of the whole person, not just the mind.

Principal's Message
"The hills around Punglwa don't yield anything quickly — every terrace here was carved by hand, over years. We build cadets the same way. Every cadet who joins us in Class VI leaves us, years later, ready for the NDA, for a career, and for life."
